Imagine you’re on a boat in the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of Panama. You are
taken in by the beauty of tropical islands. You are enjoying the pristine waters,
when one of the reels starts screaming. “Fish on,” yells the mate. He hands the rod
to you and your heart starts pounding as you imagine what you have on the line. Is
it a giant black marlin, blue marlin, sailfish, or a large yellowfin tuna? If you
are inshore fishing Panama, the fish may be a rooster fish, snapper, grouper, or
amberjack. Who knows, but you will after the grueling minutes following the hookup!
Our crews at Panama Sport Fishing Lodge can make this happen for you. They have many
years of fishing in their blood and have fished these Panama waters all their lives.
Panama is one of the consistently productive fisheries in the World. So, come experience
the thrill of catching many world class fish with Panama Sport Fishing Lodge! From
the hot popping action of Isla Montousa and Ladrones Island, to the super grand slam
of Hannibal Bank (Huge Black Marlin, Blues, Striped Marlin, and Sailfish), the consistent
quality of Panama’s offshore and inshore fishing continues to attract anglers to
this incredibly special place.
TONY PEŅA writer for Marlin, Sportfishing, and Saltwater Sportsman magazines:
“As a freelance writer/photographer for Marlin, Salt Water Sportsman, Sport Fishing
and other magazines, I’ve had the pleasure to fish in 18 countries and hundreds of
fishing lodges. Last week I fished at Panama Sport Fishing Lodge located at Boca
Chica with owner John de la Cruz and was very impressed with the operation. John
is a meticulous person with a background as executive chef, restaurant owner, developer
and entrepreneur and the lodge reflects his high standards. The Stamas boats are
well-suited to this fishery and Captains Macho Gonzalez and Sergio Ruiz are some
of the best in Panama. The lodge itself is comfortable with view rooms, plasma TV
and A/C. The main lodge has a beautiful layout with pool, inside/outside dining area,
bar and a very convenient pier and floating dock for boarding the gameboats without
a hassle. The lodge staff are friendly and eager to please which adds to the special
atmosphere. The fishing was special also with three marlin released on our boat in
our two days of fishing with live black skipjack baits at Isla Montuosa and the Hannibal
Bank. Macho likes to stick close to his “numbers” which obviously pays off big-time.
I highly recommend the Panama Sport Fishing Lodge and I’m looking forward to a return
